The Open moot is an opportunity to act as a barrister acting on behalf of a client in a superior court. Competitors prepare a written submission over a week then give oral arguments and are questioned by judges to see how well they know the facts and the cases surrounding a particular point of the appeal. Mooting is run in teams of two (Senior and Junior Counsel) but is judged individually with competitors ranked from 1-4.
