MARCH NEWSLETTER:

1. Careers Fair

The 2011 AULSS Legal Careers Fair is being held on Friday 25 March 2011 from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm in Bonython Hall. Various law firms and other organisations from SA and interstate will be available to offer you advice. This is a great opportunity to canvas a variety of career options (and also pick up some free stationery!). Visit the LSS Stall to pick up a Careers Guide and meet some Committee members!

2. Pub Crawl

The first LSS pub crawl for 2011 will be held on Friday 1st April (end of week 5) in the Adelaide CBD! Tshirts will be on sale from Week 4 for $20. Look out for the Facebook event – coming soon with more info.

3. Lockers

The LSS organises the allocation of the lockers in the Ligertwood Building to Law students. If you would like the use of a locker for Semester 1 2011 please register your interest by emailing Claire Wong at admin@aulss.org.au by 12pm on Wednesday 16th March. Allocation will take place that afternoon. If there are more registrations than lockers we will use a random allocation system to decide who will get a locker. Please do not approach the Front Office about lockers!

4. Social Justice: Make Poverty History Action Lab

Do you want to make a difference and help end global poverty? Then get involved in the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY Action Lab! This amazing opportunity will bring together 100 young campaigners from all over the nation in a weekend summit to be held in Sydney from the 1st to the 3rd of April. You will be able to engage with other young advocates and recieve expert training from some of Australia’s most experienced campaigners as well as leaders of NGO’s. Following the summit you will be part of a 40 day grassroots campaign to defend Australia’s aid budget. Applications close on March 14. Visit http://www.mphactionlab.com.au for more details.

5. Election of First Year Representatives

Every year, in addition to the general LSS positions, there are two ‘First Year Representative’ positions available exclusively for First Year Law students (one boy and one girl). The role of the First Year Representatives is primarily to bring the LSS’s attention to issues that are specific to First Year Law Students. Voting will take place in the Law School Foyer (Ligertwood) over two days in Week 5: 11.00-1.00pm on Wednesday 30 March 2011 and 11.00-1.00pm on Thursday 31 March 2011. To be eligible to nominate and vote you must be enrolled in Torts I from Week 3 onwards. Results of the voting will be sent to students on Monday 4 April 2011 (Week 6).

For more information go to www.aulss.org.au/education/first-year-rep/ and check your emails regularly!

6. Competitions: Non-competitive Volunteer Roles

Law Dinnner: Dietary Requirements

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Any students attending Law Dinner this evening are asked to notify Ranjani Sundar of any dietary requirements (other than ‘vegetarian’) as soon as possible this afternoon so the Convention Centre can make alternative arrangements for your meals.

Please contact Ranjani at ranjani.sundar@student.adelaide.edu.au outlining your requirements before 3pm today if possible. For those that do not get in touch by then we will endeavour to cater to your needs as best as possible on the night, but still send an email through.

Students who would like to request vegetarian meals can do some from the waiting staff on the night, once seated at your table.

We look forward to seeing you tonight at 7pm!

Last Tickets to Law Dinner!

Monday, August 10th, 2009

that you may not be able to cater for a big group.

If you have reserved your name, or someone else’s name, and have outstanding payments, please do so tomorrow from 12-2pm, or email Ranjani to confirm your booking and arrange an alternative payment:
